Bluegrass Roots

Bluegrass Roots is a non-profit voting advocacy group founded in 2023. BGR is dedicated to safeguarding the voting rights of all Kentuckians, including new and minority voters. This project was a collaborative effort with Tim Bowen, Alyssa DeJesus, Haley Hartley, and Judie Haidar.

Our work was honored with the Best of Student Non-Profit award at the 2024 AIGA Lou 100 show. The logo features a chicken—a nod to Kentucky's common rural backdrop. Many people are familiar with the wake-up call of a flock of chickens, and this design aims to "wake up" Kentuckians to the importance of voting.
The Bluegrass Roots brand uses bipartisan colors and a geometric triangle pattern to express the brand identity across web pages, hats, and pamphlets
